In January 2020 a group of 50 professionals from across sectors got together in Ochil Tower to share their knowledge, wisdom, experience & commitment to evolving social pedagogy in Scotland. The commitment to exploring new ways of being and doing was intense & reignited momentum to push forward in our journey. In January 2021 we became the SPPA Scottish special interest group – the next step in sharing practice, experience and learning from each other.
We are delighted to invite you to attend our free webinar on Friday 28th May 2021 12-2 pm with exciting contributions from Laurance Alfred, Emma Walker, Director of Camphill Scotland & the Camphill Scotland Community sharing with us Camphill – Celebrating practising social pedagogy for 80 years, Dr. Annette Coburn, Senior Lecturer in Community Education at The University of The West of Scotland & Dr. Sinead Gormally, Senior Lecturer in Community Learning & Development at The University of Glasgow -Threshold Concepts in Community and Youth Work & from The Promise Team, Thomas Carlton, Implementation Lead & Iain McLeod, Delivery Partner – Supporting the workforce to #KeepThePromise.
These presentations will be followed by an opportunity for participants to explore discussion further in breakout rooms before coming back together to reflect on our learning & next steps for evolving social pedagogy in Scotland.
All presenters will bring to us ways of viewing the world that could be described as threshold concepts. Meyer & Land ( 2003) defines threshold concepts as being “… a concept that, once understood, changes the way that a person thinks about a topic. ... A threshold concept can be considered as akin to a portal, opening a new and previously inaccessible way of thinking about something”.
We look forward to sharing with you an opportunity to explore different ways of viewing what we do. Not a webinar you want to miss ?
