Jameel Hadi is a lecturer in social work at the University of Salford. He was in practice for over twenty years with substantial experience of working within youth justice and with ‘looked after’ children. In 2000 he undertook research for Liverpool City Council into the experience of care leavers who had lost touch with the local authority.
He developed Participation Through Sport (PTS), 2003 to 2013, an award winning service informed and shaped by children’s participation. It’s focus being on promoting decision making self efficacy and relationships, as part of their involvement in positive activities. This developed provision that sought to promote ‘listening to children’ in the establishment of services.
