Dear members,

I hope you’re well. At SPPA, our members and building a stronger SP community of practice are our top priorities. An important step to achieving this goal is redesigning our website, and we are happy to say this is finally taking shape! We’re now making major changes to the members’ area, and there is some important information we want to share with you.

Renewals and new memberships will be paused for a few weeks.

SPPA will not process new memberships or renewals for a short period of time, (from now until possibly the end of June). If you need to renew your membership in the following weeks, you won’t be able to do it. But don’t worry, we will let you know when the new site is ready so you can renew ASAP.

If you receive automated emails saying your membership has expired or is about to expire, please ignore them for now.

Important data migration notice:

We will be migrating your data to our new membership site, which will be powered by Paid Membership Pro. We will use the personal data you provided when you first registered for your SPPA membership, such as your username, first name, last name, email, and location (country & city), to create your membership account on our new membership site. We will do this on your behalf, so for now, you don’t need to do anything. Once the website is fully functional, we will ask you to reset your password and invite you to create your own profile. Your registration and expiration dates will be the same as the ones captured when you registered.

What’s New

  • New individual membership option

We are introducing the SPPA Supporter membership (£5) while the Full Individual membership (£70) will remain in place and the concessionary rate (£25) will still be available for students, unwaged and foster carers.  Learn more about our individual memberships here.

  • Member directory

All organisational and individual members, including supporters, will be able to consult the social pedagogy membership directory and a member’s map, as well as access our recordings and resources easily. Organisational and Full Individual members will have the option to create a public profile.

  • Updated organisational membership packs

Instead of the 4 packs we used to have (standard, bronze, silver and gold) we will now have 3 types: Small Organisation, Large Organisation and Further & Higher organisation. Learn more about the new packs here.

Previous membership types will be automatically matched as follows:

Previous membership type New membership type
Standard = Small Organisation
Bronze = Large Organisation
Bronze with endorsed programmes = Further & Higher Education

  • Once the site is functional you can start making use of the additional benefits included in the new membership packs such as free memberships for staff/students and creating a profile.
  • When your current membership expires you can renew or switch to a different membership type.

We hope this information is useful, and if you have any questions or would like more information about our new membership site or how your data is managed, I will be more than happy to help.

Warmest wishes,

The SPPA team
